I don’t even know where to begin with this review, as everything about my experience at O-Ku was fabulous. Myself and four other girlfriends had our Galentine’s Day dinner at O-Ku and we had an AMAZING time. I’d have to say that the majority of the reason the experience was so memorable was because of Rachel, our server. She was very informative of the menu and restaurant, very warm and welcoming, and she had such an amazing vibe that complimented our girl-group perfectly.
I loved the tray of cucumbers, limes, lemons and mint presented table-side, allowing you to create your own infused-water combination of choice. The drinks were so fresh, creative and well thought out. My favorites were the Sugar & Spice and the Red Lotus (yes, I had to try both!). After Rachel found out that we were celebrating Galentine’s Day, she sent over a round of champagne to our table and it was such a pleasant surprise!
The food was PHENOMENAL – to start, we ordered three small plates – Edamame, the wings (delish!), and the rock shrimp (a MUST). The portions were perfect for us all to share and have an appropriate portion of each item. Out of the five of us, three of us ordered the Asian Braised Short Rib – it was SO GOOD; I keep thinking about it and cannot wait for my return visit to the restaurant for more. Another girl in our group ordered the Salmon Yaki Kuro, which she said was fantastic – it had to have been, her plate was CLEAN. The last girl in our group ordered the Curry Noodle Bowl and added shrimp – she loved her dish. We also ordered the Crunchy Prawn Roll, which we all had a piece of and it was so good!
Lastly, there was a complimentary round of assorted mochi sent to the table for dessert – my favorite flavor was the strawberry mochi. Everything about this dinner was SUPERB! We didn’t want it to end. Rachel was super attentive (not hovering, but not negligent) throughout the night and was PERFECT – I would ask for her (if you’re lucky enough to get her, please prepare to be blown away). Top notch service, top notch food, and I cannot wait until my next visit to check out the chef’s table and the rooftop.
